BlueAnt Z9i Bluetooth Headset

(Review) – BlueAnt is at it again with another wireless headset for users that want a quality experience from a sleek looking headset. The Z9i is a successor to the original Z9, which made waves when it was first announced. For BlueAnt, it was an unexpected success, and for users, it was a delightful, unforgettable experience.

The Z9i brings a lot of the features of the original Z9 – same looks, great performance and a similar feature set. However, there are notable differences between the two that would make this product a worthy purchase. To start off with, Z9i can be connected to five devices as opposed to three, and it can connect to two vs. one headset at any given moment. The package includes two sized ear buds, small and large. The original Z9 only offered large. It’s available in two colors, glossy red and black vs. glossy black. And finally, a few updates to the application and the hardware for better audio quality. …the performance component. BlueAnt has updated the headset to include two microphones for better speech pickup and Voice Isolation Technology to suppress echos and extraneous noise cancellation. In fact, there are two modes to this technology: Standard and Max for normal and exaggerated effects. In our tests, the headset sounded great. Excellent audio! Unfortunately, turning the Standard mode on wasn’t effective at all. Setting the default to Max is your best bet. That’s when we really noticed the difference. The technology does indeed work; it’s just that one of the two modes isn’t as effective. Overall, excellent work from BlueAnt yet again.

The package contains a shirt clip and a translucent earclip to better hold the headset and offers different ringtones for known and unknown contacts. Every feature worked as expected. For a depth look at the original Z9, please read our original review.
