Apple To Stream Music To Their Customers

appleA report from the Associated Press today indicates that Apple is looking to acquire online music streaming service, LaLa.com. With Apple’s significant investment and market foot print in the music industry already, purchasing the online streaming music company could put Apple’s music business into a very lucrative position. Even though the music quality with LaLa.com is said to be at a lower quality than the music purchased from iTunes, Apple believes this will allow them to offer music to those who might not be able to afford it otherwise due to the lower price point involved with cheap flat rate pricing.

What does this mean to you?

Despite Apple iTunes being all the rage, purchasing music from the music store can get to be an expense – fast. Apple approach to offering a lower quality, yet cheaper alternative is going to mean that they will be able to greatly expand their customer base in a time where people are wanting to stretch their disposable incomes as much as possible. Perhaps best of all is that unlike Pandora or other similar music streaming services, LaLa.com will allow Apple users to listen to music streaming even when the iPhone is out of cell range. We can thank LaLa.com’s buffering technology for that one.
