For those of you looking to expand their search options beyond that of Google for the iPhone, there is hope. Bing is releasing their own iPhone application according to PCWorld. Just like with the Google search application on the iPhone, Bing’s also acts primarily as a portal to get you to the search engine. The initial impressions of this move by Microsoft is that iPhone users will be interested in moving away from being so Google specific and open to giving a mobile Bing a whirl.

What does this mean to you?

Despite my own feeling about using Bing, there is a growing number of people who are interested in trying something other than Google with their iPhones. What I found unfortunate however, is that each search engine is needing to use their iPhone app as a portal rather than something more like we find with the Twitter apps. Where the results of a search are inside the app itself. Best example I have there would be Tweetie for the iPhone.
