Yelp Rejects Google’s Offer

Most companies would jump at the opportunity to be acquired by Google. However, despite being offered a significant sum for the acquisition, Yelp turned Google down cold. According to Sci-Tech Today, Yelp bravely turned away Google’s offer of $500M or more. Speculation is that Yelp is remaining tight lipped about the recent events because the discussions about the acquisition are far from over.

What does this mean to you?

If the Yelp deal does in fact go through as some experts are foreseeing, it could mean Google services being tightly integrated into Yelp’s existing Web offerings. It could also translate into a significant presence on Android as well, should Yelp not instead opt to try out for an IPO instead of being purchased outright.
