Next-Generation iPhone to Have 5 Megapixel Camera

Rumors about the next-generation Apple iPhone are starting to make waves with the latest news suggesting that the 4th-generation iPhone could be equipped with a 5-megapixel camera. DigiTimes sources note that OmniVision has secured 5-megapixel CIS orders for the upcoming model, which is expected to debut in June 2010.

This doesn’t come as a surprise. Apple is indeed working on the next-generation iPhone, and as is the case with the Cupertino-based company, they will announce a new model in late June at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which takes place every year. The hype is already starting to build, and the phone will go up for sale some time before the holiday season starts next year. We’re already looking forward to see what Apple has in store for the newer model. That, and the tablet rumors should keep us busy for the next few months.

  • @ Patty: Apple will officially announce the phone in the beginning to mid-June time frame with availability soon after, around June-end. The holiday shopping season starts on October 1st. While it's not exactly the holiday season, Apple wants to work out all kinks before the fourth quarter to make sure sales are as smooth as possible during the last three months of the year.

So you are predicting a November 2010 release?

Sounds more like June 2010, to me.
("June" is hardly "before the holiday season".)
