Innolux to Supply Panels for Apple Tablet

Today comes the news that Innolux is going to be the panel supplier for Apple’s 10-inch tablet. According to DigiTimes sources, Apple had to delay the announcement to Q1, 2010 because it couldn’t get its partner to provide a glass strengthening solution. Now, however, Apple has resolved that issue with Foxconn’s optical glass processing subsidiary G-Tech Optoelectronics that will now provide what the company is looking for. Similar sources point out that Apple will definitively announce the tablet early next year with mass production in March or April.

Innolux is a subsidiary of Foxconn. Foxconn will also be the manufacturer for Apple tablets. Wintek, another supplier, will take a secondary position in the partnership. Apple may ask Wintek to come in as a second supplier in case the volume picks up higher than expected.

What’s interesting to note are the conflicting rumors regarding the tablet’s display size. Previous reports suggested the first tablet will be a 7-inch with the possibility of Apple announcing larger sizes down the line. Either way, it looks like the rumors are getting more serious by the day, and we may just see the eluding tablet appear in less than a month.
