Former Google China President Reveals Apple Tablet Details

By the time we are done talking about the tablet ourselves, there will nothing new for Apple to wow us with. Except the demo, of course. In a recent turn of events, former Google China President Kai-Fu Lee, who’s close enough to Apple, has revealed important information about the upcoming Apple tablet on his micro blog.

“The Apple Tablet looks like a bigger iPhone that sports an awesome UI packed in a beautiful 10.1-inch screen. The tablet combines the functions of both netbook and kindle, an ebook reader. It has virtual keyboard for text entry and a webcam for video conferencing.”

That’s good enough for us. We keep hearing about the 10.1-inch display. What happened to the almost confirmed 7-inch display that Apple was initially going to reveal, and again, Apple tablet will be the Amazon Kindle Killer, as we reported earlier. What we want to know are the consequences that Lee will face from Apple for revealing this information. One thing is for sure, though. There’s no way Apple’s going to keep Lee anywhere close to their product launch. He just lost his privileges.

The tablet will have an ereader that will kill the kindle says Lee.
It better be some new technology nobodys heard of because as far as I know
eink is not available on the tablet. It will not have a dual screen. So how does it kill the kindle? The kindle will still do one thing best, read books.
  • @smm: When they say the tablet will kill the Kindle, I don't think they are talking about it from a more technological standpoint. It's all about the content. If you look at Apple's history, it's obvious that they are into the platform game, and the first thing they do is sign-up content providers. If they end up doing that, you can imagine the possibilities. Magazines and newspapers will look sharp on a crisp, colored display. So will your ebooks. Would you still get the black and white Kindle to read books? Why get two devices when you can just buy one for all purposes? That's like saying you would buy a regular iPod for music and an iPhone for everything else. Why? Get a bigger capacity iPhone and you can put your music on it, too. It's all about carrying as few multi-purposes devices as possible, while still getting the best experience.
