Illinois Makes Texting Illegal While Driving

Driving while “texting” is still a big problem in the US. To combat this, some states have enacted local laws to prevent drivers from using their mobile devices, when their eyes should be on the road. ABC News reports that Illinois is now making it very clear that driving and texting will no longer be tolerated.

What does this mean to you?

As we have reported previously, studies prove that texting and driving is dangerous. In my state for example, using a mobile phone while driving without a bluetooth earpiece has been illegal for a couple of years now. The real problem with enacting laws such as this on mobile users behind the wheel is that no one pays much attention. Still, I’m hopeful that Illinois will see success with this and will be able to rely on more people using common sense when driving.
