BlackBerry Hit Squad: Next Nexus One Gunning for Enterprise Users

Even with the Nexus One gaining on the iPhone, among other non-Apple (Android-based) phones in popularity, recent reports have indicated that Google is not satisfied with merely going after the casual smartphone market. Reuters reports that Google is going straight for the golden consumer – the enterprise user. Once heralded as untouchable, thanks to the footprint left by RIM’s BlackBerry and Windows Mobile, today’s landscape is seeing the Apple iPhone and soon, the Google Nexus One becoming the reigning champions within the enterprise user.

What does this mean to you?

Windows Mobile died a long time ago, the BlackBerry is not far from the grave either. The two most likely mobile devices to be left standing will be the iPhone and the various Android mobile offerings. Unlike the current reigning champion, Google’s Android-powered phones will have to work together, along with the Nexus One to crack into the enterprise market. After all, the iPhone is already becoming an enterprise favorite. This means that the Nexus One will likely have to “tag in” some of the other Android phones for backup, or risk being thrown against the ropes by the iPhone as the two mobile devices go to war.

I can appreciate your enthusiasm about "a war" coming but suggesting "Windows Mobile" died when many millions of people are using it is silly. And if "BlackBerry is from the grave" as the number one manufacturer of Smartphones in North America and number two in the world (after Nokia), is probably pushing it. Using that analogy, Google Android (which has only a tiny percentage of actual users relative to the iPhone, BlackBerry, Nokia, and even Windows Mobile smartphones) must be dead-on-arrival.

It's not obviously. And a fight is looming yes. But do check your market facts and not just personal opinions.
