Microsoft Kool-Aid Alert: Mobile Linux Expected to Fail the Quality Test
Microsoft Mobile’s lead executive had something to say about Linux in the mobile realm. According to The Register, Microsoft’s Robbie Bach was quoted as saying that Linux will fail in mobile quality. Despite having nothing whatsoever to backup his statement, Bach bravely went on to add that Linux won’t be able to scale as much as they need to. Bach also mentioned that he expects Windows Mobile 7 to move the bar forward.
What does this mean to you?
I have never read a bigger line of buzzword filled nonsense in my entire life. At no time was a clear strategy given or a case made for how Windows is going to do it better. Bach may very well be right, but if user numbers, phones produced and media attention are an indicator, Microsoft is light years behind than the nearest competition. Worse, they have this guy leading the charge…back to 1990’s thinking.
