Never Happened: Microsoft Never Spoke of Windows Mobile 7 at CES

Betanews had an unusual piece today in which they were asked to clarify something that Microsoft never allegedly said at this year’s CES event. Labeled by much of the press as an attempt at starting buzz around the otherwise mundane Windows Mobile platform, Betanews was not clear as to why Microsoft asked for this clarification in the first place.

What does this mean to you?

We’re still relevant! You can almost hear Microsoft screaming this as they try everything in their power to get anyone to write news on the dated Windows Mobile platform. Falling desperately behind the iPhone and Android, it seems as if their executive branch is in dire need of a personnel refresh as these publicly stunts are just getting old.

Yes, that is correct. Microsoft's Windows Mobile Phone is a dead platform.

Anyone buying a 'smartphone' needs to consider this, and probably buy a different, more popular platform, such as Android or iPhone.
  • I think I would wait until Windows Mobile 7 is released to reassess the iPhone and Android OS as competitive platforms to see how they all stack up against each other.
