Apple Continues Talks With McGraw-Hill, Hearst, Hachette for Tablet Content
Apple continues its talks with every major print media company to have them provide digital content for the company’s tablet, expected to debut later this week. People familiar with the matter confirmed to BusinessWeek that Apple is now talking to McGraw-Hill, specifically its Education Unit, to have them offer digital textbooks for the tablet. Similarly, Apple is interested in Hearst provide magazine content and Hachette Book Group to provide ebooks for the device.
This marks Apple’s ongoing support for the otherwise dying print industry. “Everyone is expecting e-book capabilities and services,” said Roger Kay, President, Endpoint Technologies Associates, a research firm. “This generation of tablets is all about the consumer and media consumption.” No kidding, we would say so.
