Apple Hates Netbooks, Released iPad to Replace Netbooks

After stating that the iPad had to serve a purpose with a new category that would fall between a smartphone and a notebook computer, Apple said it wasn’t interested in netbooks. Jobs said, “Now some people thought that was a netbook, the problem is that netbooks aren’t better than anything,” in his keynote earlier today before unveiling the iPad. He also showcased a slide that categorized netbooks as slow with low quality display and PC software. In other words, for Jobs, and as such, Apple, netbooks mean nothing.

That was his motivation to work on a new kind of mobile product, and that’s how the iPad was born and came to fruition earlier today.
