Steve Jobs: Google’s Don’t Be Evil is ‘BS’

Never say that Apple’s Steve Jobs is a man to mince words. According to a recent Wired article, Steve Jobs called out Adobe and Google in two very strong ways. Adobe, for being lazy with regard to their handling of Flash, and Google, for overusing the mantra ‘Don’t Be Evil.’

What does this mean to you?

Jobs is right on. Adobe is incredibly lazy and half-hearted with how awful it is to use on any platform. While Adobe has great products, their implementation of Flash is a wide scale joke. As for Google, they left the building a long time ago on this concept of ‘Don’t Be Evil.’ Google does whatever they darn well please. Kudos to Jobs for calling them out.

HI Matt - do you even understands the problem behind - as to why Adobe having difficulties on porting Flash to iphone/ipad?
And crying out loud - you also do not understand why Jobs saying Google is Evil - because Google release its OWN mobile phone! Sounds like Microsoft screaming to GNU community not to release WINE!

    LOL...
  • I agree with the flash point.

But I haven't seen an instance of Google breaking that command of theirs. Giving away something for free isn't evil; it's awesome. It makes them money, and it makes us happy. Maybe I need clarification on what "evil" is by Google and Jobs' definitions.

Evil is such a strong word. I prefer "Do nothing shady" The free apps are great, I even use some on my sites but, they aren't really free. You see other people are paying for them. The advertisers. My problem with Google is the lack of transparency when it comes to reporting to the advertisers. As a small business owner I know I have been taken by Google. The larger corps might not feel it. Evil has been committed on this world but certianly not by Google. T.V. evangelists are another story. :)
  • "Don't be evil"???? Really? Ask anyone who has ever been hosed by Adwords or had their Adsense account shut down. Evil may be strong word. Maybe they won't do "evil" but they sure have no problems with "bully".
