Magazine Publishers Face Challenges With iPad
At Apple’s keynote last week, while book and newspaper publishers made their debut on the iPad, no one saw an iPad exclusive version from a magazine publisher. We wonder why.
Conde Nast certainly would have to rework its digital strategy. The company recently revamped one of its magazine titles to flash to deliver the best interactive experience possible on the Web. But flash doesn’t work with iPad. Does that mean magazine publishers would have to spend additional resources to create iPad-only content? While we’re certain magazine publishers wouldn’t mind doing that, it must be a pain. Because of this, we don’t expect to see many of them jump on board without at least having initial sales figures of the iPad. That will give them an idea if iPad will capture a decent enough user base for them to make it worth their while to have iPad exclusive versions.
Or Apple could just help them out with work with Adobe to support flash.
