Apple iPad, Google Chrome OS Gunning for Microsoft

Another day, another fight between Apple and Google. This time they are battling it out over netbooks and tablets. While Apple has made its dislike for netbooks clear, Google is interested in improving them with its Chrome OS. Apple’s answer to destroying the netbook market is the iPad, obviously.

One key hurdle they will both run into, and something they need to get over, is to have users move away from the desire to use traditional applications like Microsoft Office. Google is all for cloud apps and storage, while Apple is focusing on specific iPhone-based apps. Different strategies, similar goals.

However, the threat is straightforward: to kill Microsoft. Microsoft better come up with a mobile strategy of its own, or its future is bleak at best with Google and Apple gunning for its place as the most connected experience.
