RIM Working On 3G Blackberry Pearl, New Touchscreen Phone
RIM is working to reveal two new devices later in Spring to refresh its product line. The information is scarce at best, but TheStreet sources suggest one device will be an updated 3G Blackberry Pearl with a trackpad that’s smooth to operate. That doesn’t sound too exciting.
The second device, the source claims, will look like the Blackberry Bold with a traditional Blackberry-style keyboard and a touchscreen display. So, RIM is essentially following the Palm Pre strategy with a keyboard and a touchscreen hybrid. That should be interesting. The new OS update is pleasing to use, as some RIM insiders point out, and the experience is a lot better than RIM’s existing OS.
This is RIM’s way of coming back strong to take on Google Android and Apple iPhone OS.
