3 Million Kindles to be Sold in 2010

Even with the drumbeat of the Apple iPad, it looks like Amazon is all set to sell 3 million Kindles this year. Great news for Amazon, but only if the long tail distributor can get a handle on publisher demands will any of this mean anything. And with the potential of $1.6 billion in Kindle-related purchases expected, it’s in Amazon’s best interest to get things settled with their publishers as quickly as possible.

What does this mean to you?

The raw number of 3 million Kindles sold sounds like a lot. And truthfully, it is. However, this is still projected, and it’s not helping Amazon at all if they are still having issues with their publishers due to e-book pricing. To reach this projection successfully, Amazon must find a common ground with their pricing structure.
