Apple Aiming At Educational, Healthcare, Enterprise Markets for iPad

In the same report from Needham & Company, Analyst Charlie Wolf notes that Apple’s iPad is best suited for educational and healthcare markets where students could carry a digital version of their textbooks and medical professionals could carry patient notes with them on a 1.5-pound device. However, neither of these markets are as big as the mainstream consumer market where a household could potentially purchase more than one iPad for the family.

Apple, on the contrary, has its sight set on the lucrative enterprise market. It’s been struggling to get a hold of this market for a while with many of its products and that struggle continues with the iPad. Having a specialized version if iWorks for the iPad would make the portable tablet a potentially effective tool. It would also give Apple the chance to enter into a market that it could up sell to later with more options and services that companies would gladly pay for.

AppleInsider sources report that a lot of Fortune 500 companies are considering having their employees carry the iPhone despite its shaky security.
