The next version of the iPod Touch will probably be a lot more powerful, have longer battery time and may even be less expensive. People are still going to want a device they can slip into their pockets to listen to music. I'll bet the classic iPods will be killed off and replaced by the Touch. I'm not saying the Touch won't have some sales taken away, but I doubt it will be killed off by the iPad. In any event, Apple margins are so high on the iPad, a slight loss in Touch sales won't make much of a difference. I'd still want a smaller device to carry around if I'm on my bike or just walking in the streets. I'm not going to lug an iPad everywhere I go just to listen to music. The sign and portability as you mentioned is too convenient compared to the iPad. The AT&T 3G means nothing either because I will continue to use the Verizon MiFi for both iPod Touch and the iPad.
