TTC Drivers and Riders Go to War on Facebook
Clearly the public transit system in Toronto leaves something to be desired, according to the CBC. Things have become so heated between riders and drivers regarding the Toronto public transit system that a war is brewing on the social networking site Facebook. The transit drivers (TTC) have a page up called the “Toronto Transit Operators against public harassment.” Passengers, on the other hand, do not appear to be backing down on Facebook or on other social networking sites.
What does this mean to you?
Unlike a private company, this is a union run, public system. So good luck trying to get them to change, folks! While the war on Facebook is likely to continue, it is clear that neither the transit union nor the passengers plan on backing down anytime soon. The fact is that select drivers/fare collectors are totally in the wrong based on what I have seen thus far. Not all of them mind you, just those busted for sleeping and other such things. That said, passengers should not be verbally harassing anyone in person. Instead, sticking to the social media avenue is likely the best bet.
