Windows Phone 7 Expected to Debut at Mobile World Congress

Microsoft is expected to unveil it’s next-generation of Windows Mobile OS on February 15th at the Mobile World Congress conference next week. This will be Microsoft’s attempt to take on primarily the Apple iPhone OS and Google’s Android that have established a stronghold on the market. Besides these two, the company also has to worry about RIM and its Blackberry devices. RIM is rumored to be revealing new products in the coming months to better take advantage of touchscreens with a better browsing experience.

We reported on additional rumors last week about what Windows Phone 7 may offer next week. It goes without saying that Microsoft will have a tough task ahead to play catchup, but the company has gotten entrepreneurial lately, so we wouldn’t write them off completely.

With Windows Phone 7 to have no multi-tasking, and to forbid the installation of non-Microsoft approved applications, I think I might just look at what else is available at Mobile World Congress.

I think a lot of people will feel the same way, and start looking at other platforms.
