Apple iPad Threatens Amazon Kindle Model
As we predicted earlier, thanks to the Apple iPad, publishers are taking an aggressive stance against Amazon to get them to raise e-book prices from $9.99 to $12.99-$14.99. A number of publishers have gone to Amazon and told them to stand down on their idea to keep prices low. Up until yesterday, Amazon wasn’t interested.
However, ever since the launch of the iPad, sources report Amazon is finally “ready to sit down” and have a discussion. If history is any indication, you will probably see Amazon back down as it reevaluates its pricing model to better compete against Apple.
