More Google Privacy Concerns Reported
The CBC reports that Canada’s privacy commissioner is less than enthused about the mounting privacy concerns surrounding the now popular Google Buzz social networking feature. Expressed concerns include the fact that privacy of your contacts are greatly put at risk, by default, and often without the user knowing, according to the article. As the commissioner reminded Google Canada that it needed to address these issues, Google responded in saying it was not practical to address each problem with the commissioner at that time.
What does this mean to you?
Canadian privacy laws are becoming more heavily enforced these days from what I have been told, so it seems to me that Google will need to get a handle on the issues surrounding Google Buzz as soon as possible. If Google does not, I suspect we will see blow back from Canadians who are not thrilled about their data being shared so openly without their knowledge. Can we say massive Gmail exodus?
