Microsoft, Yahoo Ready to Take On Google

Now that the Department of Justice has approved the Microsoft-Yahoo deal, Google should be threatened, at least a little. ComputerWorld has an article that suggests the pace of innovation and competition should ramp up and get exciting in the near future. Two of the top Internet companies with limited success in the search market are taking on the leader. That should help advertisers, publishers and consumers see positive changes in all three environments.

In a public statement, Google said it welcomes new competition and that it should keep the search giant on its toes. Of course, it says that now, but with Yahoo expected to implement Bing technology before the end of 2010 and more changes coming with integration, it may regret making a politically correct statement in the not too distant future.

What do you think? Should Google be worried?
