Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer stunned the world with a statement that actually proved to make sense. He was quoted by the Seattle P-I as pointing out that Google did search right because it was first. Ballmer went on to explain that “there was no good answer” to the other question, about whether or not Bing can be first in the US market.

According to Ballmer, he envisions Microsoft’s Bing gaining just a few points, then just keep working away at the market share from there. Despite Ballmer’s vanilla outlook on Bing’s success in the future, he did say he was pleased with Bing’s performance thus far. He firmly believes that Bing is presenting data in the way that users want. Apparently someone forgot to mention the relevancy aspect of search to him.
