Google Backs HTC in Apple Lawsuit

Was there any question, really? Of course Google is going to go to bat for HTC, as they are pushing Android in a big way on the HTC phones. TechCrunch has pointed out that Google’s official position is to basically protect their investment. So if that means making it public that they stand behind HTC during their lawsuit with Apple, so be it.

What is also interesting, from the article, is that Google has yet to be named in the lawsuit. Odd, being it would not be that difficult for Apple to loop Google into the mix. Perhaps Apple is holding off for some strange, unknown reason that’s yet to be determined?  Something tells me this working relationship between Apple and Google has only begun to unravel. Maybe HTC will be the final straw?

HTC is significantly smaller than Apple, and Apple may be operating under the assumption that they can push HTC around by strength of their squad of lawyers. If Google gets included and comes into the mix, Apple would be butchered by the combined might of Google's and HTC's legal teams collaborating. Granted, that's most likely already happening, but if they try to include Google in the suit, it would become official and whereas now Google's team will likely not be in the courtroom (hence, unable to help HTC on the fly), that would change should the suit be officially filed against Google.
