AT&T Sees iPad Usage Mostly On WiFi
Well, AT&T sounds disheartened. CEO Randall Stephenson said he doesn’t expect a lot of iPad users to sign up for AT&T’s 3G, $29.99/month service because they would be interested in using their WiFi connections in their homes or at a nearby coffee shop. AT&T believes a lot of them would not be interested in signing up for another subscription service.
That means the company doesn’t expect to sign up a lot of new subscribers with the iPad. Not to mention, consumers interested in the 3G capable iPad would have to pay $130 more for all 3G capable iPad versions, so it should be fairly obvious that you would only pick one up if you were really inclined to sign up for a carrier contract.
