Facebook May Be Worth More Than Google, Come Facebook’s IPO
Facebook vs. Google is shaping up to take on a whole new meaning. According to this report from The Wall Street Journal, venture-backed Facebook is showing indications of being valued at a lot more than Google was during their own IPO.
Clearly, the valuation of Facebook is being inflated greatly even before an IPO takes place. Unlike Google, anyone who is of the mind that Facebook provides the kind of “real world value” that dictates the kind of high-end IPO numbers being tossed around, needs to get themselves checked into an insane asylum. Facebook is fun, provides a great way to communicate, but it’s no Twitter. For enterprise users, there is no comparison which one provides the most long-term value. Based on this, I believe we’ll see a high valuation out of the gate, only to see reality set in a few weeks later.
