Hard drive makers are concerned that Apple iPad may delay transition to SSD drives for everyone else in the industry, reports DigiTimes. Apple accounts for one-third of NAND flash output, and sources believe if the iPad is successful, it will tie up the supply chain for standard desktop and notebook hard drives, delaying the transition.

In the meantime, NAND storage prices keep going up, which isn’t such a great news for consumers either.
