Microsoft Confirms No Backwards Compatibility for Windows Phone 7 Series

Rumors were another thing, but now Microsoft has confirmed lack of backwards compatibility for Windows Phone 7 Series. The company is aware of the massive outrage this decision may cause, but they are prepared to support Windows Mobile 6.5 OS and devices for years to come.

What’s odd is that Microsoft said it will continue to work with hardware partners to release new Windows Mobile 6.5 devices. Why would any hardware vendor release a device on what’s about to be an outdated mobile OS? Pricing Windows Mobile 6.5-based devices may be the reason, but even then, no consumer should go after a device that can’t upgrade to Windows Phone 7 Series, or run apps designed for the upcoming OS.
