Sony Preps Mobile Handhelds, Including PSP Phone
Sony, after taking a lesson from Apple’s playbook, believes its the right time for the company to have a similar ecosystem-oriented strategy. You know, the one where all devices are connected to one central service online, such as the Sony Online Service, and play nice with each other. That’s Sony’s plan for 2010.
According to WSJ, people familiar with the matter said, Sony is working on a hybrid portable device that “blurs distinctions, among a netbook, an e-reader and a PlayStation Portable.” More importantly, the company is said to be working on a PSP phone in partnership with Sony Ericsson.
No word on when any of these devices will appear for us to look over, but Sony is molding itself into an Apple.
