HTC Pure Review

Just a few moments ago, we published a review of the HTC Touch2 with Windows Mobile 6.5. Despite our dislike for Microsoft’s outdated mobile OS, there’s strong demand for these handsets. In the last couple of days, we’ve published plenty of reviews on 6.5-based phones that includes the Samsung Omnia II, LG Expo and HTC HD2. The HTC Pure, available for AT&T, adds a new interface to the stale old look that Windows Mobile 6.5 is known for and actually makes it fun to use.

CNET reviewed the HTC Pure, and said, “The HTC Pure for AT&T ships with Windows Mobile 6.5, which brings an easier-to-use interface, an improved browser, and new services. The compact smartphone also offers full wireless options and a 5-megapixel camera.”

However, “The Pure lacks a standard 3.5 millimeter headphone jack. Touch screen is resistive instead of capacitive. Windows Marketplace is a bit slow to load and Internet Explorer Mobile still falls behind the competition.”

In conclusion, “The HTC Pure offers AT&T customers an affordable touch-screen smartphone that showcases a more intuitive Windows Mobile operating system and strikes a nice balance between work and play. That said, those looking for a handset that excels in multimedia and Web browsing should stick with the iPhone.”

I think people should realize that the Windows Mobile 6.x operating system is a dead-end, and now obsolete, as Microsoft has announced its replacement to arrive at the end of the year.

People should realize that all the current Windows Phone applications will also be rendered obsolete. This is a critical factor about Windows Phones, that overrides the importance of the 'look and feel' of it.
