Microsoft Shows Off Cross-Platform Game for Windows, Windows Phone and Xbox
At Microsoft TechEd Middle East conference, Eric Rudder showed the first cross-platform game from Microsoft. The game, a simple Indiana Jones platformer, was compatible with Windows 7, Windows Phone 7 Series and Xbox 360.
He showed how he could play the game on his PC with a keyboard, hit pause, pick up his Windows Phone 7 Series phone, press resume and continue playing from where he originally left off with an accelerometer and touch sensitive controls. He could then end the game, go to his Xbox 360 console and resume playing with the Xbox controller. The game remembered the pause-resume action, level and everything else that you would need to transition from one platform to another.
This is Microsoft’s new strategy that connects all platforms together and ties them together for a seamless experience. We’re loving it, and can’t wait to see more advanced applications become cross-platform compatible in the future.
