Apple’s iPhone Developers Agreement Favors Apple

Not that this is a surprise in any way, but Apple’s iPhone Developers agreement favors Apple and is very one-sided. The EFF got a copy of the agreement from last March under the Freedom of Information Act to see how fair the document is. What they found was, in a nutshell, that Apple’s agreement favors the company more than it should. For developers, it’s completely unfair.

Some of the highlights include the ability to only make the app available through the App Store, the maximum liability that Apple can be held accountable for is $50, and the developer can’t issue press releases or make other information regarding the agreement public without Apple’s express written approval.

In other words, as a developer, you must play by Apple’s rules, or if you think their behavior with you is unfair, you’re out of luck.
