Breaking: Google Apps Marketplace Launched
Hopefully Apple is sitting down for this one. Not only has Google jumped into their turf on the mobile scene with Android and the Nexus One, now Google is launching their own app store! As reported by Mashable, Google is breaking into the application marketplace with what is aptly named the Google Apps Marketplace.
What makes this such a huge concern for traditional software vendors, such as Microsoft, and to a degree, Apple, is that these apps will be “cloud based.” Yes, this means you will not need to glance at the side of a box to make sure you are running the right platform or have recently updated your phone’s OS. If Google is able to deliver on half of what is being covered in the article, Apple and Microsoft should be worried. As of today, Google’s partners in this project include Aviary, Expensify and Intuit.
