Verizon Excited to Sell iPad Data Plans, Hitting Back AT&T
Verizon has gotten feisty after their 3G ad campaign, and they are not going to let AT&T get all the attention with the iPad. In an internal memo, Verizon is shown training employees on the iPad and telling them to encourage users to buy the WiFi version of the iPad and pair it with Verizon’s MiFi unit for an always-on 3G network. They are also interested in fighting this out with AT&T with the following loaded comments.
“Why pay more for the 3G version & get 3G service on an overloaded network with limited coverage?,” Verizon writes in an internal memo. [Engadget]
Naturally, AT&T has a perfect comeback with a mere price comparison analysis. Verizon’s MiFi will cost $60/month with a 2-year contract for 5GB of data usage, while AT&T is offering $29.99/month with no contract and unlimited data for iPad users. How do you respond to that, Verizon?
