Make the phone for at&t. I know plenty of people who really want this phone but won't get it due to it costing so much to get without t-mobile and not being able to use the 3g with at&t.
T-mobile is horrible, nobody is gonna leave at&t or Verizon for them.

It's not just marketing – it's also the market. Google rolled out the n1 on one of the weakest 3G networks in the US. Had they rolled an N1 out the exact same way but on Verizon or AT&T, sales would have been much stronger. I'd buy a no-contract N1 immediately – but sorry, not on T-Moblile. No marketing adjustment will change that simple requirement, and I am pretty sure I'm not alone.

This doesnt sound like a right comparison – I always thought of the Nexus One as a technology demonstrator – early adopter phone. If they managed to sell 80K with zero $$ on mktg – thats a pretty big deal – and to top it, you should remember that new users cant sample it in retail outlets like they usually do for an iphone or droid

Please compare the advertising spent on nexus one versus droid versus iPhone. iPhone is now running non-stop commercials on prime time on all channels. To my knowledge nexus one has not had ONE TV add period!!!! So nexus one TV add dollars spent = $0 for a return of #80,000 units. Droid spent at least 10 to 50 million on ads for #525,000 units. iPhone is spending 10 million per week now.

You're kidding me, right? Comparing the Nexus One's sales to the Droid's sales is apples to oranges. The Nexus One was released for much smaller network, and it was released only for purchase online through Google. The Droid was release for Verizon, with a massive counter-iPhone campaign on both the web and on TV. You also have to take into account the fact that the Nexus One is going be released for Verizon soon (March 23, reportedly). Besides, it's only been two months since the initial release. Maybe Google's sales strategy for the N1 will fail, but you can't call it dead yet.
