Is Archos Tablet The iPad Killer?

What costs $550, has a terrible touch screen and doesn’t even provide three hours of battery life? According to Wired, that would be the “iPad killing” Archos PC Tablet. This is so unfortunate as the obvious lack of quality with this tablet PC was totally preventable. Poor performance and a $500+ price tag translates into a lack of sales, I would surmise.

Had the Archos PC Tablet been put together with a bit more quality, it could have had a real opportunity to be a strong competitor to the iPad. All it needed was a better touch screen, improved battery life and more RAM. Is this set up to be an iPad killer? Not in this current revision. Other Tablet PCs may do better, but it’s clear that the Archos PC Tablet needs to be put back on the drawing board for a second attempt with a hardware refresh.

    Matt - Are you kidding? Nice title for a loser product. . . Trying to drum up some drama, geez! It is gonna take a lot more than a few tweaks to even begin to compete with the iPad. Watch the PC tablets roll out - one by one, and get crushed by iPad sales. People just don't get that Apple knows how to design what people find easy to use and products that just work. The company is smart enough to only put on a device that which will excel and give the user a fabulous experience. Looking forward to many years of iPad use starting with April 3rd!

    Archos has just released a hardware refresh with a faster Intel processor. No capacitive touch screen, those DO NOT exist yet on the market at those sizes.
