After Microsoft showed off the ability to port games from a PC to a console to a Windows Phone 7 Series mobile phone, the world took notice. Who wouldn’t want to port quality games to their mobile phones? Unfortunately, Microsoft has decided to limit this technology strictly to Windows Phone 7 phones due later this year just in time for the holiday season.

Novell, a Microsoft frenemy, has decided to pick up Microsoft’s slack and will soon debut a technology that will take Xbox 360 games and port them to the iPhone and Android smartphones. Naturally, the iPhone version of these games will come first, while Android will take some time. According to the company, the Android version of the technology is in early stages of development.

Interestingly enough, Microsoft is working with Novell hand-in-hand and seems to be giving it support where needed. It’s certainly not stopping Novell from moving forward with this project. Both companies have a history of working closely together.
