Nexus One Sales Disappoint, Android Growth Continues
Mobile Analytics company Flurry has just released new data that estimates total units sold for the Google Nexus One, Motorola Droid and Apple iPhone 3GS after the first 74 days of sales.
In a disappointing but unsurprising turn of events, the Nexus One sold a mere 135,000 units compared to Motorola Droid’s 1.05 million units and Apple iPhone 3GS’ 1 million units. Goldman Sachs lowered Nexus One sales estimates after noticing dismal sales performance earlier in the month.
While the Nexus One is a disappointment arguably, since it’s only available on T-Mobile through Google’s online store, Android as an operating system is certainly successful. Combine the total sales units for the Nexus One and Droid, and we have an Android duo that’s beating the iPhone. It’s not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison, sure, but the total number of Android sales on a per day basis are catching up to the iPhone. That’s the reason why Apple is so interested in protecting its patents with a lawsuit against HTC that has the entire Android community shaken up.
