Google has been going back and forth with China for what feels like an eternity. Today, Google is no longer going to appease their Chinese hosts in the mainland. In an act of open defiance, Google.cn is no longer filtering their search results to keep the Chinese government happy.

While China has seen support in their corner from Microsoft, Google has instead opted to draw a line in the sand in what one can only deem as a direct response to China’s security exploits against Google. What is unfortunate, however, is that it took Google to be attacked first to realize how wrong censorship is, regardless of the person’s home country. Regardless, it should be interesting to see how China responds to Google’s actions.
