HTC EVO, First 4G Phone, Coming to Sprint in Summer
At CTIA 2010 wireless industry conference, Sprint debuted the HTC EVO, the first ever 4G phone, and confirmed that it will hit retail shelves sometime in summer of this year. What’s also interesting is that unlike the iPhone, this is a clear win for Android as a mobile OS, as it’s the first OS to support 4G effectively.
Moreover, this marks another major win for HTC as a company that’s seriously backing Android. No wonder Apple is going after it so aggressively in a lawsuit and Google is publicly backing it against its fight with Apple.
The HTC EVO will have a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 4.3-inch display, HTC Sense UI, 2x cameras (front and back) at 8.0-megapixels, video recording, HDMI output and much more. In other words, this is the phone to hold out for. By effectively making this announcement, it makes the Nexus One and HTC’s own Desire look amateur at best.
