Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to Get Android 2.1 Update

Sony Ericsson’s Xperia X10 is the next in line to receive the Android 2.1 update, just like every other Android phone in the market. The phone currently runs a custom version of Android that stands at version 1.6. Although the company said the custom OS wouldn’t require the need to be on a better Android version, it now feels otherwise.

When the phone debuts in the US in the second half of 2010, it will presumably have Android 2.1 on it. For Sony Ericsson, we feel the company has lost its edge in delaying the update and making the phone available so late to US consumers. By the time the phone becomes available, there will be far better options for consumers to choose from.
