New iPad Orders Won’t Ship Until April 12, Apple Says

Apple has run out of existing iPad supply to promise everyone the April 3 due date. New orders from here on out will not ship until April 12, the company said on its site. Originally, to entice consumers into pre-ordering the iPad, Apple promised to get the iPad to consumers on April 3, the day the iPad was going to be available across the US at Apple Stores.

Not anymore. The company has experienced an influx in demand that has put the WiFi version of the iPad on delay for shipment. Consumers ordering the iPad online now will see their device shipped on April 12, which defeats the purpose of ordering the iPad before everyone else. You might as well wait and try to purchase one locally after playing with one than rushing to buy one online.

The iPad 3G + WiFi version is still slated to ship by the end of April.
