Free iPads for Seton Hill University Students

And kids in college think they have it difficult! Goodness no, based on this latest tibit of news we have come across. According to TUAW, college students at Seton Hill University will be receiving an assigned iPad, just for attending the school. The idea behind the move is that students will be able to download their textbooks directly on the iPad, thus saving a few trees along the way.

But wait, there’s more! Students attending this college can also expect to receive their very own 13″ MacBook as well. Sure seems like Apple is making a serious comeback in the university scene. Too bad those graduating and looking for jobs will need to dump their Macs for a PC most likely. Don’t misunderstand us, it’s not that one is better than the other. Rather, it’s simply a PC world in the realm of enterprise users today.

Why not just install Windows on your Mac and run it natively when you need it? Or install VMWare Fusion or Parallels to create a Windows partition on your Mac and install Windows in an emulation mode? Why dump a perfectly good (and arguably more useful) computer simply because it would require installation of additional software to achieve the exact, same functionality (minus an entire OS!) you'd get by buying a replacement?
