No Simultaneous Voice, Data for HTC EVO 4G, Confirms HTC

Not that we’re particularly shocked by this, but one of the hottest Android phones will not support simultaneous voice and data services, HTC confirmed to Android Central. Although the new 4G standard is supposed to take care of that, Sprint, the launch carrier of choice for the EVO 4G is not interested in enabling this feature. Existing CDMA consumers are used to not having voice and data work simultaneously, so they should be relatively fine with this otherwise questionable policy.

HTC said it’s not the hardware, which means Sprint is to blame for disabling what could be an attractive option for some.

In a statement, HTC said, “If you’re using 4G for data, you can’t use CDMA for voice. Currently the only way to do simultaneous voice and data would be through a third-party VOIP solution. However, this is not do to strict hardware limitations, so it’s possible this could change with future updates.”

Two things... first, Sprint has already said this may not be the case in the release. Second, who cares? If it's software it'll be hacked within two days of the phone's release.
