We’ve been wondering when the new color Kindle was going to make an appearance for us. Looks like the wait will be much longer than most of us had anticipated. Sadly for Amazon, this will be the final nail in the Kindle hardware device.

According to a report from the AP, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos made it clear that the color version of the Kindle presents a technology challenge that translates into it not being released anytime soon. Oddly, Bezos continues to exclaim that the Kindle makes a better e-book reader because it’s “easier to read.” I’d reply back with the point that people seem quite happy to access Kindle on the iPhone and Android, with no desire to spend money on yet “another” device just to read overpriced e-books. The iPad, however, can do much more than simply provide access to e-books, thus driving a better value. The sales numbers tell their own story.
