Google Develops Android Randomly
Google is all about iterative engineering, as we reported earlier today. That’s why the company doesn’t plan out its OS releases, Android Head Andy Rubin confirmed to Gizmodo in an interview. Rubin said Google doesn’t look at its OS updates with a 5 or 10-year roadmap in mind. Instead they look at innovation, where it is in the cycle and adds features accordingly. Rubin pointed out a perfect example with Simplify Media, which the search giant bought recently. He said technology from Simplify Media is already in Android 2.2 Froyo. All in all, it’s a fairly random development process that allows Google to keep pace with Apple’s iPhone OS.
