Acer Stream Debuts, Same Old Android Handset

Another day, another boring Android handset. Acer debuted the Acer Stream earlier today that packs a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Android 2.1 OS, 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display, HSDPA, Bluetooth, WiFi b/g/n, 512MB on board RAM, 2GB on board storage with expandable SD card slot, a customized Acer interface, 5-megapixel camera with 720p video recording and an HDMI port for TV output.

Tell us, what’s so unique about this handset that nearly every other powerful Android handset doesn’t have?

Since it's an HSDPA device it's a GSM device, so in the US, that's either AT&T and/or TMobile. This means it's fast. If it's carrier subsidized, then it's possible that this may set a new price point, for this kind of price point, especially with the AMOLED screen. If this is on AT&T, then it's a nice add to the Android options for it's lineup.

  • Good point, but that alone won't make me consider this device when I've got the Nexus One, Incredible or the EVO 4G to work with. ;)
